Lilian Odira thrilled home fans at the 2025 Absa Kip Keino Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, in Nairobi by winning the women’s 800m in a personal best of 1:58.31, securing her spot at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships. The African silver medalist surged past Botswana’s Oratile Nowe and African champion Sarah Moraa in a dramatic final sprint at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. Nowe and Moraa also clocked personal bests, finishing second and third respectively. Rising Kenyan talents Judy Kemunto and Maureen Chepkirui delivered lifetime bests, highlighting the country's growing depth in the middle-distance event.
