Seko finally makes it happen in men’s 10000m
Men's 10000m contest has a new winner this season.
Edwin Kipkemoi Seko clocked 28:30.43 as he battled resilient Amos Kipkurui Lagat (28:39.9) to the wire in the 25 lap showpiece that remained a two horse affair at the tail end.
"The race was tactical but I managed to endure the strong opposition. I was motivated by the cheering fans," stated Seko.
Seko lost the race last year by a whisker to world silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo in a similar manner.
After finishing second behind Seko, Kirui ( 28:30.9) while stated: "Coming second was motivational because it means if I go back to Kaptagat and work on speed I can easily qualify for my first Olympics."
Third place Kelvin Kiplagat ended the tape in 28:32.40.
